If You DON’T Know What the Problem Is, i can help figure it out

(Already know the problem with your heated floor? Go here.)

I have OVER 20 years of experience troubleshooting radiant heating systems, on site and over the phone, for electric heating cable systems and hydronic systems that utilize heated fluid pumped through pipes or tubing.

In many cases the reason a radiant heating system won’t work as intended is a mystery to all of the parties involved. Option Number 1 has generally been “throw some money at it and see what sticks”. Option Number 2 has generally meant “starting over”, expensive, time consuming and it can be a big mess. The 3rd Option of just removing a tile or two and making a repair, or replacing the right component or correcting some overlooked detail is almost always going to be more cost effective and potentially much faster than starting over or randomly throwing some money at it.

I can sift through the available information and keep your crew pointed in the right direction. I can say with confidence, I’ve done more of it than just about anybody else in North America. The vast majority of issues can be resolved safely, one way or another, but I can also help you identify when the problem might not be safely repairable. The primary “not safely repairable issue” for more than 20 years has come from someone cutting off too much heating cable and trying to make a new end-splice. This voids manufacturer’s warranties (except “self-regulating cables”) and can result in a serious fire hazard. If someone has shortened your heating cable, I would be more than happy to help you with the necessary calculations and try to help you avoid burning your house down. Done properly, radiant heating is one of the safest and most comfortable heating systems you could have.
