Electric or hydronic heated floor not working right?

I have over 20 years experience taking radiant heat Tech Support/Troubleshooting calls from all 50 US States and most of the Canadian Provinces. (More on my background) With a new system or an old one, fixing whatever is wrong is typically quicker, cheaper and less of a mess than starting over. Two Contact Options for support are available at this time. Feel free to send me an email through the contact buttons on the site. My reply may go to your junk mail folder. My phone number is 417-461-4122 for texts or calls, I'm in the Central time zone with my home and shop close to Springfield, Missouri. At this time, I generally don't travel very far with my equipment. If your heated floor problems are on the verge of starting a lawsuit, I may be able to stretch my travel boundaries.

This heating cable was damaged on a grout seam during installation several years ago. It burned out at the highlighted spot in the spring of 2020.

I built what I believe to be the most robust and versatile portable diagnostic test equipment for electric heating cables to be found anywhere in the world. I have a water resistant, professional grade high resolution thermal imaging camera to get better eyes on the situation. Having the best tools and over two decades of experience in manufacturing, technical support, splice repairs and warranty evaluations, allows me to get to the root of the more challenging problems quickly and I know what is required to make safe and durable repairs.

The best of intentions while installing a radiant heat system doesn’t always produce an instant success story. Remodeling work or dozens of other issues can adversely impact the operation of the best of systems.

When we’re lucky, a variety of issues can be resolved with telephone based Technical Support and Troubleshooting.
I’m happy to discuss the conditions you are experiencing and any specific data you or your crew are able to provide, like ohm, volt and amp readings and info on the cable(s). I can’t always answer a request for a call immediately but I intend to do so promptly, or at the time you request. In some cases we can try to resolve the problem over the phone, or at least gather as much information as possible and determine the next step(s) toward resolution.

When your crew believes one or more heating cable has been damaged or failed somewhere, it often requires a job site visit and use of specialized equipment designed to pinpoint the problem, often isolated to a few square inches of the floor. My equipment can be used on all sizes of residential systems and I have heavier duty equipment for industrial systems when a single cable may be rated at about 60 Amps.

If you would please gather as many details and specifics about your system as possible, it really helps me help you.
